About

Class of 1967, Catania born and gallerist for passion, Massimo Ligreggi’s story has its roots in Detroit 40 years ago, where he studied from the age of ten to the first year of college.
The encounter with this city in Michigan – American car industry capital city – has been a great learning experience for him.
In fact, here he met art for the first time, attending museums and galleries.
Leaving the city of Detroit, he returns to Sicily where he continues to cultivate his passion for art more and more.
It is the beginning of a great passion.
Massimo Ligreggi decides to leave a first tangible sign in his land: Sicily.
He becomes President of Arte Giovane Sicilia, brings together collectors of contemporary art and intercepts new local spokesmen.
In 2011, strongly encouraged by his wife, he sets up the Galleria D’Arte CollicaLigreggi together with his partner Gianluca Collica.
Meetings, exhibitions, discoveries of national and international artists, temporary exhibitions and numerous awards.
2019 marks the beginning of a new page: within the reserved and welcoming SAL, in Catania, Massimo Ligreggi now presents a new art space.
“A stable of contemporary artists where art has no age”, as he likes to describe it.
A selection of names to bet on: painting, sculpture, digital applications.
The rest is an ongoing process, made of care and value.
